
WWE has filed to trademark it’s latest ring name on October 13, per the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
One of the reasons behind the many sudden name changes in the company was done with the idea of WWE owning the trademarks for their characters’ names.
While the rule has seemingly been softly lifted since the change in regime, with stars such as Tommaso Ciampa, Austin Theory and Matt Riddle being given their full names back, WWE still looks to trademark the new names for their NXT stars, and the latest has been revealed.
Per the USPTO, the latest ring name trademarked by WWE is ‘Lyra Valkyria’.
It is not yet known who the name is set to be used for, but the ‘Valkyria’ surname is similar to that of former NXT UK star Aoife Valkyrie, who has yet to reappear on WWE television since her injury last year.
