Former AEW Star Comments On 17 Year Journey To Sign With WWE WWE/AEW

Former AEW star Ethan Page has reflected on his journey to WWE and his in-ring debut that takes place at NXT Battleground.

As can be seen below this news story, the June 4 episode of NXT saw Page ‘sign his NXT contract’ and secure himself a championship match against Trick Williams at the upcoming PLE.

Page made his WWE debut on May 28, appearing at the end of that evening’s NXT, after which it was confirmed that he had officially signed with the company.

Reflecting on his decision to “sign on the dotted line”, Page tweeted his thoughts, saying:

“Took 17 years to sign on the dotted line with @wwenxt…

“But only one match to become a CHAMPION!”

Plenty of support would come Page’s way on Twitter, with some noting his potential under WWE.

Following a career that saw him appear in Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling and on the independent scene, Page signed a three-year contract with AEW in March 2021.

He would remain with the company until earlier this year with his profile being removed from the AEW and ROH website on May 2, 2024.

Mr Stone was seen with Page in the opening segment of WWE NXT with it being strongly implied that the former manager is now assisting Ava in her general manager role.

Following Page’s NXT debut, it was reported that the decision for him to appear on that evening was “a last-minute thing.”

NXT Battleground takes place on June 9, 2024, and will include the crowning of the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion.

The ladder match to decide the first NXT Women’s North American Champion will feature Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker, Michin and Kelani Jordan.

Also being defended on the show is the NXT Women’s Championship with Roxanne Perez taking on TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace.

Grace made her WWE singles debut on this week’s NXT, facing Stevie Turner, having previously appeared in the women’s Royal Rumble match in January.

Nathan Frazer & Axiom will defend the NXT Tag Team Championship against The OC (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson), while the NXT North American Champion Oba Femi will be in a Triple Threat against Wes Lee and Joe Coffee.

Finally, on the announced card, fans will see an NXT Underground match with Shayna Baszler taking on Lola Vice.
