A major update has emerged on a top free agent’s status, with the star now reportedly heading to WWE.
With Jeff Cobb officially leaving NJPW in April, it has been heavily speculated that he will soon show up on WWE TV.
This speculation arose after Fightful reporting on March 13 that Cobb – who was referred to in the report as a free agent – is a star WWE had their eye on, and Dave Meltzer reporting that there have been contract talks between Cobb and WWE.
With WrestleVotes most recently reporting that Cobb’s name had been brought up in WWE creative discussions, all signs pointed to Cobb joining the company, however there was some uncertainty about this following Cobb hinting at his retirement.
Fightful Select has now confirmed that Jeff Cobb is indeed headed to WWE. While it’s unclear whether he’ll be starting out on Raw, SmackDown or NXT, the report noted that Cobb is heading to WWE on what has been described as a “good deal.”
Cobb last wrestled on the April 19 Road To Wrestling Dontaku show, losing to Hiroshi Tanahashi in what had been advertised as Cobb’s final match with NJPW.
We will continue to provide updates on Cobb’s status as they become available.
