Karl-Anthony Towns has commented on his WWE future, following his appearance at Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden.
The New York Knicks star appeared during Danhausen’s No Disqualification match against JD McDonagh, emerging from the Very Nice, Very Evil star’s cloning machine.
KAT got physical during the bout, dropping McDonagh with a chokeslam, before slamming Dominik Mysterio through a table.
Following Towns’ involvement in the match, the NBA athlete commented on his appearance in an interview on WWE Now: SNME Recap.
Explaining their partnership, Danhausen and “KAThausen” said:
Danhausen: “It’s my city, I won it. I won the Madison Square Garden. I won the NBA Championship and I’m the champion now of New York City.”
KAT: “He’s the champion of New York City. KAThausen here with Danhausen.”
Danhausen: “You’re the champion of New York City too.”
KAT: “I’m just sharing the championship with you. Ever since we’ve been uncursed, you’ve seen how New York’s been living. It’s all because of Danhausen.”
When asked if he’ll be back in WWE, Towns responded:
“If Danhausen ever needs KAThausen, I’ll be back.”
We’re currently in a weird period of celebrity involvement in wrestling.
While previously many mainstream stars made one-and-done appearances, many recent special guests have shown more passion and commitment, and have wanted to be featured in notable storylines.
Lil Yachty is an example of one of these stars, with Trick Williams recently stating that the musician had pushed for their alliance to be more than a one-week deal ahead of WrestleMania 42.
It’s an interesting balancing act, as while audiences have applauded the likes of Bad Bunny for his serious efforts between the ropes, fans heavily criticised the company for having Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll so prominently featured in the WrestleMania 42 WWE Championship build.
With Logan Paul committing to WWE full-time, and recently stating that he intends to wrestle for at least five more years, many people see him more as a wrestler than a celebrity wrestler, because of how often he was in action prior to his injury.
With both Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns appearing on the Madison Square Garden show, it appears that WWE will continue to feature familiar faces, both in the Logan Paul style wrestler role, and as fun attractions.
