Olympic Gold Medalist Making WWE In-Ring Debut ‘Really, Really Soon’ WWE

An Olympic gold medalist who signed with WWE contract in 2021 hopes to compete at the next Olympic Games and debut soon.

Gable Steveson won Olympic gold at the 2020 event (that took place in Tokyo during 2021) signing a multi-year deal with the company in the same year.

A heart procedure halted plans for a debut at WrestleMania 38, with reports in October 2022 that he had started training at the WWE Performance Center on a full-time basis.

Steveson has appeared on WWE TV, helping Kurt Angle reenact his milk truck spot on the WWE Raw 30 Anniversary episode.

Speaking to MMA Fighting, Steveson has now outlined his plans for the future, saying:

“I know the Olympics is next year and I hope to be a part of that and keep moving forward and keep winning big titles for the USA also.

“I would love a second run. I feel I have a lot more left in the tank to showcase.

I want to prove USA right and keep moving forward overall and become one of the best American amateur wrestlers ever, and I hope I can achieve the Bruce Baumgartner status of having a bunch of medals and having the accolades to show and be a part of WWE and be an entertainer, too.”

Appearing at the 2024 Olympics isn’t a definite for Steveson, though he hopes that the company will allow him to take part in the Paris Olympic Games so that he can contest for a second gold medal.

Steveson would go on to discuss his WWE in-ring debut, stating that it is “soon” and adding:

“And when I mean really, really soon, probably after [WrestleMania] or just a little bit after that.

I think being able to understand that this game is different and it’s a process and I’m going to follow the process the right way and just keep moving forward.”

Steveson would describe himself as the:

“Most physical, athletic, and dominant wrestler since probably Brock Lesnar.”

Steveson’s brother current performs as Damon Kemp on WWE NXT.
