Giovanni Vinci has addressed losing in under 10 seconds in his WWE SmackDown return on tonight’s September 6 edition of the show.
Tonight’s WWE hosted the in-ring return of Giovanni Vinci, and despite receiving a lot of build-up, the match was over in under 10 seconds.
Vinci didn’t even have the opportunity to get his jacket entirely off before Apollo Crews pounced and rolled him up in a quick pin to win the match,
Now, Giovanni Vinci has spoken out about the match in a video shared by WWE after SmackDown finished.
Vinci said:
“Don’t even ask the question. I’ve got a question for you. When is the last time you’ve seen a match start without the referee checking both competitors if they’re ready? Yeah, I haven’t seen it either.
“So if Apollo wants to come up from behind, when clearly I still have half my entrance gear on, and roll me up, he wants to play that way? Alright. We can play that way. We can play that way.”

After the match it was reported that ‘key figures’ in WWE creative ‘absolutely hated’ the way the match played out.
Some fans were also disappointed to see that Vinci’s return did not mark the full return of his NXT 2.0 entrance despite a pivot back to that character which was implied by the return vignettes.
