WWE’s reigning Intercontinental Champion Gunther has spoken about the star that he says is “one of the best”.
With a win against Braun Strowman on the January 13 episode of WWE SmackDown, Gunther was asked about another beast he could potentially face.
Appearing on the Battleground Podcast, the Austrian powerhouse was asked his thoughts on facing Brock Lesnar, saying:
“Yeah, definitely. To get the opportunity to prove myself in that scenario would be fantastic.
“When I started as a wrestler and got back into wrestling, I always watched Brock’s matches because they are fantastic, they stand out right away. There is nobody like him.
“I always like those characters. Most of the people doing this who are successful, there is no copy of them.
“He’s always been a great wrestler, and from when I grew older in my career, I was able to analyze the work and understand the psychology and stuff.
“You can tell he’s one of the best to ever do it. If I get a chance to get in the ring with him, I would gladly take it.”
Gunther became WWE Intercontinental Champion after defeating Ricochet on WWE SmackDown in May 2022.
At the time of writing, he has held the championship for 223 days.
He has faced challenges from Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sheamus, Rey Mysterio and Braun Strowman.
It was recently revealed that Brock Lesnar has creative control in WWE, with Eric Bischoff stating that Lesnar “exercises the hell out of it.”
There had been previous reports that Gunther vs Brock Lesnar was “pencilled in” for WrestleMania 39.
