A WWE star has thanked current World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER for elevating him and for having a big impact on his career.
GUNTHER’s 666 day Intercontinental Title reign was ended by Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 40.
When Zayn won the #1 contender’s gauntlet match to earn this title shot, many fans criticised this result, arguing that Chad Gable should’ve been the one to face GUNTHER at the Show of Shows.
This is because fans wanted a conclusion to the duo’s feud following their excellent series of Intercontinental Title matches in late 2023.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Gable noted that GUNTHER’s impact on his career cannot be overstated.
When talking about potentially winning his first WWE singles championship, Gable said:
“I’ve come so close so many times, the Gunther stuff, what it did for my career, what Gunther did for my career can’t be overstated. I have him to thank for so much the way he elevated me.”
GUNTHER became the World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam, defeating Damian Priest for the gold.
He will defend his title against Randy Orton at the August 31 Bash In Berlin premium live event.
