The next inductee for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026 has been revealed, as announced by ESPN.
ESPN‘s Shams Charania took to Twitter to report that Dennis Rodman will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of this year’s ceremony.
Charania shared the following on Twitter:
Crossover: Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in April, per ESPN sources. Rodman made his WCW debut in 1997 and famously skipped a practice during the 1998 NBA Finals for a wrestling match alongside Hulk Hogan. Two HOFs for Rodman.
WWE has reposted this statement from ESPN’s ‘Senior NBA Insider’, confirming these plans.
Rodman was involved in WCW during the late 90s, teaming with Hulk Hogan on two occasions as a member of nWo Hollywood.
Their first pairing would see Hogan and Rodman team at WCW Bash at the Beach in July 1997, losing to Lex Luger & The Giant.
This was followed by a victory at the following year’s Bash at the Beach over Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone.
A third match would be under a Hardcore stipulation at Road Wild in 1999, with Rodman losing to Randy Savage at the August pay-per-view.
Rodman would continue to wrestle the following year, with three appearances at IGW in Australia, resulting in a trio of losses to World Heavyweight Champion Curt Hennig.
Officially announced for the April 17 WWE Hall of Fame induction are Stephanie McMahon, AJ Styles, and the tag-team Demolition, who were the longest-reigning WWF Tag Team Champions.
The WWE Hall Of Fame Continues To Grow
This year’s WWE Hall of Fame will see the 27th class inducted, with (as of last year’s ceremony), 254 names among their number.
A mix of wrestlers, celebrities and lesser-known WWE-connected names and celebrated individuals, the first ceremony took place in 1994.
Despite being called the Hall of Fame, a physical structure has been long discussed but is still yet to materialize almost three decades later.
As recently as earlier this decade, a survey was sent out with reference to a potential physical venue as part of a particular focus on a potential WWE tour.
Artefacts associated with WWE stars, including those in the Hall of Fame, do occasionally make an appearance at pop-ups linked to major Premium Live Events, with some also seen on screen thanks to programming such as WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures, which aired on A&E.
While it’s likely Rodman will be inducted into the Celebrity wing of the Hall of Fame, fans will have to wait a while longer before seeing if there will be an Immortal Moment induction, with Bret Hart vs Stone Cold Steve Austin from WrestleMania 13 being inducted last year.
On top of that, WWE often inducts a number of legacy stars, with Demolition being the only historic names revealed so far.
