WWE Hall Of Famer Reacts To Carmelo Hayes Losing John Cena Tournament

WWE Hall Of Famer Reacts To Carmelo Hayes Losing John Cena Tournament WWE

A WWE Hall of Famer has reacted to Carmelo Hayes coming up short in John Cena’s Last Time Is Now tournament.

The tournament was won by GUNTHER who will now face Cena in Cena’s final match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend.

Carmelo Hayes made it to the quarter-final round, defeating Bronson Reed before losing to GUNTHER.

Hayes was one of the names many WWE fans wanted to see Cena face in his final year, especially given their previous interactions on WWE NXT TV and Hayes coming from the same area as Cena in Boston, Massachusetts.

However, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray/Bubba Ray Dudley believes it was the right call for Hayes not to win the tournament and for GUNTHER to be the one who emerged victorious.

Speaking on Busted Open, he said:

“Not everybody is gonna come out of the tournament a bigger deal. Sometimes they just need people in the tournament.

“We all have high hopes and think the world of Carmelo Hayes, yes or no?

“If Carmelo Hayes was going to the finals against John Cena, I would have said that was the biggest force-feed and force-fit I’ve ever seen.

“It would not have been believable to me. If you want this to scream ‘fake,’ then put somebody in the finals that we know that there’s no way in hell they could make it to the finals unless you wrote their name in on a piece of paper.

“GUNTHER’s the f**king man. End of story. Learn.”

GUNTHER won the tournament by defeating LA Knight on WWE SmackDown this past Friday.

Bully Ray also shared his thoughts on what should be next for Knight off the back of that loss, which you can read more about by clicking here.
