WWE Hall of Famer Road Warrior Animal Criticizes Raw’s Tag Team Division

In a recent interview with Chair Shots to the Cranium, WWE Hall of Famer ‘Road Warrior’ Animal discusses not only the story behind his face painting and ‘Legion of Doom’ stable name, but also the current state of WWE’s Raw tag team division.

In the interview, Animal blames WWE’s 50/50 booking as the main problem with the division. He believes there must be a defined top team, both face and heel.

“Everybody cannot be equal. That’s not reality. That’s not tag team wrestling. You’re always gonna have one team that reigns supreme and you’re gonna have one team that’s not as good as the other ones.”

Animal claims that WWE’s poor booking decisions have caused several major teams to fall flat with the audience. He uses The Revival, The Ascension, and The Authors of Pain as examples of WWE’s misguided writing.

“They started off with The Revival being strong, and now they kill them. They started off with The Ascension, which was the biggest mistake WWE made in the last twenty years. The Authors of Pain beat one guy to become tag team champions, but what had they done before that? They’ve gotten beat.”

Animal believes that having everyone in equal footing only hurts the division. He states that the fans are smart enough to know this and would not invest in the division otherwise.

“You can’t keep beating teams and then having them get a token win every now and then. You’ve got to establish who’s the dominant guys. You get over with the fans by winning. You have to establish the teams. There has to be a pecking order. This is the top of the food chain. Who’s gonna climb that ladder to equal the top of the food chain? You’ve got to have that.”

Animal was asked if there was any team in WWE he was interested in. He simply answered that none of the teams caught his eye.
