‘Extremely Proud’ – WWE Hall Of Famer Pays Heartfelt Tribute To John Cena’s Career WWE

WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker has paid a heartfelt tribute to John Cena’s “incredible” in-ring career.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, John Cena wrapped up his WWE career after 23 years, 17 world championships and a plethora of accolades.

Among the legends in attendance to pay tribute to Cena after his final match with GUNTHER in Washington D.C. was The Undertaker, with “The Deadman”also appearing in a video package that played inside the Capitol One Arena.

The Undertaker also had some touching things to say about Cena the day before his retirement, as in a newly released episode of his Six Feet Under podcast – which was originally recorded on December 12 at The Howard Theater in Washington – Taker spoke at length about Cena’s “amazing” career.

Undertaker said:

“It’s amazing when you look back at John’s career. The incredible arc from where he started and how he worked and by chance and preparation and work ethic, the chance encounter he had with Steph [Stephanie McMahon], it all hinged on that.

“It’s amazing, we talk about it all the time, how work ethic and preparation puts you in the right place sometimes for luck to happen, and it happened for him. Then strap that rocket to his butt and off he went.

“I don’t think there’s anyone that’s ever really been like John Cena. The whole thing about wrestling, it doesn’t matter if they love you or hate you, they just have to care one way or another. And John was one of those incredible, incredible stars that come along where one night people love him, just cheer and go nuts. The next night boo the crap out of him. It’s so polarizing.

“The back-and-forth, ‘Let’s go Cena, Cena sucks’. That is, for somebody of his calibre in that position to be so polarizing it’s amazing. “I’m glad at the end, at the last few years of his career that people embraced what he did because John did it right man, he really did. He was a leader, as the face of the company he went out and did all the meet and greets and all of those things and did it with a smile on his face and never complained.

“I remember once going up to him and going, ‘John, you’re going to have to learn to say the word no sometimes’. But no, he thrived on it, he wanted it all and he knew what comes with being the face of the company. I’m extremely proud for him and the career he’s about to sign off from.”
