WWE Star Believes Wrestling Should Be Genderless WWE

While WWE Hall of Famer Lita was a trailblazer for female representation in WWE during the 2000s and now still in 2023, she has admitted that she isn’t quite content with the current state of genders in wrestling.

Barriers have been broken and numerous ‘firsts’ have came to the women’s division in WWE in recent years however, according to Lita the next barrier comes from the ‘women’s’ label altogether.

Speaking to Forbes’ Alfred Konuwa, Lita explained:

“To me, the next barrier is genderless,”

“I don’t care how you identify, we’re just going to go out there and show out. And it’s not like ‘what women do we have on the show? Where’s this representation?’

No, fair game. Everyone go. Grab your spot and we go out there. Some nights that might mean eight women’s matches on the card, some nights that might mean two.”

Lita would state that including women’s matches should not be included out of necessity, but instead because the talent involved speaks for itself, explaining:

“To not still feel like it’s a box to check to make sure to represent the women. Of course they’re going to be represented, because they’re good.”

“Just continuing on not being confined by gender, it’s like: ‘I see a prize, I go after it. We’re not worried about what defines my gender. I see a title, and that’s what I want to do.”

Lita is set to step into WrestleMania as one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Champions alongside Becky Lynch, teaming with fellow Hall of Famer Trish Stratus to take on Damage CTRL in a six-women tag match.
