Hardy Boyz Character Change Update

An update has emerged on the futures of current TNA Wrestling and former WWE stars Matt & Jeff Hardy of the Hardy Boyz.

Matt & Jeff Hardy are currently both signed to TNA Wrestling, where they are current World Tag Team Champions.

Now in their fourth reign as TNA World Tag Team Champions, The Hardys are very much fan favorites.

The fan perception is something that Jeff Hardy discussed during a recent interview with Metro, teasing the possibility of a character change in the near future.

Comparing himself to Ricky Steamboat, Jeff Hardy noted the difficulty in getting fans to dislike him.

Touching on how he envisages a shift in character happening, Jeff teased:

“I am kind of in that Ricky Steamboat category. It’s hard to make people hate me.

“I’m looking forward to this year, maybe leaning into a little more egotistical side of the Hardyz.

“Not only saying we’re the GOATs, but knowing we’re the GOATs, an in-between heel and face type of thing.”

Marr Hardy confirmed in December 2025 that The Hardys had signed new TNA Wrestling contracts ‘a while’ ago, having returned to the company in 2024.

While under contract with TNA Wrestling, The Hardys have competed on NXT under the partnership with WWE, most recently appearing in October of last year.

At NXT Halloween Havoc on October 25 last year, The Broken Hardys lost the NXT Tag Team Championship to DarkState (Dion Lennox & Osiris Griffin) in a Broken Rules match.
