WWE Has Banned The Term ‘Pay-Per-View’

WWE is now referring to their special events as ‘Premium Live Events’ rather than ‘Pay-Per-Views’, which was noted at the WWE Day 1 show, when the event was consistently referred to by the former.

The change makes logistical sense, as the majority of WWE’s events are no longer distributed on pay-per-view, but rather Peacock, and even those that still are featured on traditional pay-per-view are also available on the streaming service.

Expect this change to be here to stay going forward, as Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE has ‘banned’ the term ‘pay-per-view’ or ‘PPV’, with them believing that the term is antiquated.

While pay-per-view is not technically the correct term, that is what the fans have been referring to these shows as for decades now, so it will still come as second nature to a lot of people.
