In the main event of last weekend’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, Seth Rollins defended his Universal Championship against The Fiend Bray Wyatt.
The match ended via referee stoppage, a decision that was booed out of the building by fans in attendance.
However, it seems as if it isn’t only wrestling fans who weren’t best pleased with how the match ended on Sunday night.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer awarded the main event of Hell In A Cell the abysmally low rating of minus two stars.
On the topic of the match, Meltzer had the following to say:
“Visually, the match was a disaster because of the red tinting. Rollins used kendo stick shots early which Wyatt did no sell spots with. Rollins came off the top rope into a Wyatt uranage. Wyatt threw Rollins into the steps a few times and Rollins threw the steps at Wyatt, which he did sell. Rollins did two topes. He went for a third but Wyatt caught him with a Sister Abigail into the cage. Rollins superkicked Wyatt, put him on a table and came off the top rope with a splash through the table but Wyatt popped up. Rollins used a superkick and curb stomp and Wyatt popped out. Wyatt used a Sister Abigail in the ring and Rollins kicked out. Wyatt twisted his neck and got a giant mallet. Rollins came back with a curb stomp into the mallet, then a springboard knee that Wyatt didn’t sell, and a second one. With the red tinting, it looked like both knees missed anyway. Then two more superkicks, and three more curb stomps but Wyatt gt up. Rollins did a terrible looking pedigree and another curb stomp. Wyatt kicked out of that at one. Rollins did another superkick and four more curb stomps and Wyatt kicked out. Fans were just booing the hell out of the match at this point. It went too long. It was no fun watching with the tinting. I think they were fed up with kicking out of curb stomps and Wyatt not winning. This was just killing Rollins. Rollins then nailed Wyatt with a chair to the head (it actually didn’t hit the head but hit the ground) and Wyatt kicked out at one. Rollins pulled out a ladder and smashed the ladder into the chair and Wyatt kicked out. Rollins went under the ring and brought in a tool box and smashed the tool box on the ladder that was on top of the chairs. Then he got the sledge hammer. He went to use it but ref Rod Zapata said that “You’re better than this.” Rollins then hit Wyatt with the sledge hammer and the match was stopped. Wyatt was laying there dead and about to be stretchered out and when popped up, unharmed and put the mandible claw on Rollins and gave him a Sister Abigail on the floor”.
Seth Rollins will be in action for the first time since Hell In A Cell tonight when he goes one-on-one with Roman Reigns on Friday Night Smackdown.
