A WWE Hall of Famer has criticised AEW’s booking of current Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada during his time in the company.
Okada joined AEW back in March after his contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling expired the prior month.
Upon his debut, Okada turned heel and aligned with Matthew and Nicholas Jackson, joining the Elite, before capturing the AEW Continental Championship from Eddie Kingston two weeks later.
Okada has reigned as the champion ever since, with him set to be a part of the Continental Classic, but one former AEW name has been less than pleased with his booking in the company.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry discussed the booking of Okada, where he encouraged AEW to let Okada ‘go and work’ rather than being ‘delegated to saying bitch’.
He said:
“[Kazuchika Okada] was one of the best wrestlers in the world, top 5, and now you have him delegated to saying ‘B****’ to pop the crowd. Let him go and work, man. That dude is amazing.
“I want to hear the coin drop and people say ‘Oh man, it’s about to go down,’ not people hearing the coin drop and saying, ‘Oh boy, here we go.'”
Okada is set to face off with TNT Champion Daniel Garcia on this week’s episode of AEW Collision in the Continental Classic.
