WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has revealed the secrets of the stunt work in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, in which he portrays Guile.
As previously reported, Rhodes took a short leave of absence from WWE to film his scenes for the 2026 movie, with production taking place in Australia.
Rhodes returned for WWE Wrestlepalooza on September 20, meaning that, short of any reshoots, his time on set for the movie has ended.
During a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Rhodes revealed who was behind the stunt work for his portrayal of Guile.
Noting that he was adamant about performing his own stunts, and noting that he got “one go at a couple of things” he hopes make the final cut, Rhodes said:
“I was adamant that anything that was a stunt, I wanted to do it. If that requires me to be on these wires, I wanna do it.
“If you put another guy over here in the corner, who I know is gonna do the shot after, I still want a shot at it.
“His name is JV, his stunt squad was putting together these fights – it’s Street Fighter, you need fights, it’s a fighting tournament.
“(It was) unbelievable, very easy for me to jump right into it. He had a great team around me to let me get one go at a couple of things that I hope I get to see in the movie.”

The “JV” in question is likely to be Jon Valera, the Second Unit Director and Stunt Co-ordinator for the movie.
Valera’s previous stunt work has included both Aquaman movies, John Wick: Chapter 3 and Thor: Ragnarok, with his most recent cinematic outing being as a stunt performer for Thunderbolts.
Cody Rhodes is joined by Roman Reigns in the upcoming movie, with the OTC portraying Akuma, a character who has a particular interest in Ryu.
The Kitao Sakurai-directed live-action Street Fighter is set for a big-screen release on October 16, 2026.
