A report has revealed that WWE expressed interest in a huge IMPACT star and considered debuting them on the main roster.
Last month, it was reported that Moose had re-signed with IMPACT. With his contract set to expire, IMPACT reportedly offered the former TNA World Champion an attractive new deal after other promotions expressed interest in the performer.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required), WWE was interested in signing Moose prior to his free agency period. It was also reported that WWE was hopeful that Moose could be brought in and sent straight to the main roster, skipping NXT.
It is a rare occurrence when a newly signed star heads straight for Raw or SmackDown. Notably, former TNA Champion AJ Styles made his WWE debut in the 2016 Royal Rumble match, and remained on the main roster.
Moose unsuccessfully challenged Kenny Omega for the IMPACT World Title at Against All Odds. He faced Kenny Omega on the most recent episode of IMPACT, in six-man tag team action. The July 1 episode of IMPACT hit a record low viewership, possibly due to a TV listing error.
Moose is scheduled to face Chris Sabin at Slammiversary 2021 on July 17. Sami Callihan will challenge Omega for the IMPACT World Championship during the show.
