The first match in a tournament for a new WWE championship has been announced, following events that transpired on Evolve.
The March 26 episode of WWE Evolve saw Ice Williams and Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes) in the VIP section to witness proceedings.
After the main event match, which saw Sean Legacy defeat Timothy Thatcher, Baylor and Smokes would enter the ring in order to confront the victor.
With Capuccino Jones and Jack Cartwheel evening the odds against Swipe Right, Ice Williams would show no interest in getting involved in the drama.
Swipe Right would exit the ring as the show went off air, with a new WWE ID Championship tournament match now official.
Baylor will face Williams in the first round of the tournament on the April 18 FSW show.
WWE shared the following announcement on Twitter:
“BREAKING…. The first match has been signed for @FSWVegas presents the ID Tournament on April 18th in Las Vegas
“After what we just saw on #WWEEvolve, it’ll be @IceWillliams vs. @bradbay1or in a WWE ID Title Tournament opening round match!”
With two WWE ID championship belts having been revealed by Triple H, the women’s championship tournament will also have its first match during WrestleMania 41 week.
As recently announced, GCW will host Zayda Steel vs Kylie Rae on April 16 in Las Vegas.
WWE Evolve streams on Tubi in the United States and YouTube for international audiences every Wednesday.
