WWE ‘Insider’ Claiming Vince McMahon Fired Stephanie McMahon May Have Lied In Attempt To Bury Stephanie WWE

UPDATE – The reason WWE is attempting to bury Stephanie McMahon has potentially been revealed – read more here.

An interesting update has emerged on a report yesterday regarding Stephanie McMahon’s “leave of absence” from WWE.

Yesterday, Business Insider posted a story that cited a quote from a “WWE insider”, who had said that it was Vince McMahon’s decision for Stephanie McMahon, his own daughter, to leave her position.

There were comments made essentially blaming Stephanie McMahon for some of WWE’s shortcomings when it comes to not hitting certain financial goals, and the idea being portrayed was that Vince realised it was her fault and essentially decided to get rid of her.

However, it turns out there’s a good chance that isn’t true, but rather a made up story from someone attempting to bury Stephanie on behalf of the company.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer responded to the Business Insider story by reiterating that it was “100%” Stephanie’s own decision to take a leave of absence, not Vince’s, but some higher-ups in the company want to portray her negatively on her way out.

Meltzer wrote:

“Her leaving was 100% her choice. She had been talking about to close friends from when Paul (Triple H) had his heart issues. That said, key people in the company once she was gone did want to bury her on the way out. That shocked a lot of people including me and those close to her. When I noted to someone very high in the food chain about the burial starting, they told me that if they did that publicly it would be career suicide, only to find out they had already started and the burial was going to come from the top.

“There is a much bigger story here. The company outright wanted to bury her here. Something happened after she left clearly. The company did a total 180 on her about two weeks after she left. They never even did that for (George) Barrios & (Michelle) Wilson.”

This isn’t the first time it’s been reported that WWE higher-ups have been burying Stephanie, so this version of the story definitely seems to add up.

It’s certainly a very interesting situation, and we will of course keep you updated if we hear more.

Also yesterday, WWE announced who will seemingly be replacing Stephanie McMahon, which you can read about at this link.

Regarding the possibility of Stephanie returning, Meltzer said that it’s expected she’ll be back in WWE in a new role at some point, but it won’t be any time soon.
