A former WWE name has commented on an interesting instruction he was give after a match between The Rock and Roman Reigns was teased on TV.
WWE Day 1 saw The Rock appear for an in-ring segment with Jinder Mahal, which was followed by his very notable “Head of the Table” line that seemingly set things up for his storyline with Roman Reigns heading into WrestleMania.
Participating in a Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’, former WWE personality Matt Camp, who previously hosted Raw Talk, The Bump, and other post-shows throughout his tenure, shared some interesting details about the segment.
While the tease that The Rock was coming for Roman Reigns’ spot at the aforementioned Head of the Table seemed obvious, Camp said he was told to not reference a potential match between them.
Camp wrote on the AMA –
“On the night Rock did his head of the table line after the Jinder thing, I was vaguely told NOT to speculate on a possible Roman/Rock match (remember this was at Day 1 and Cody hadn’t won the Rumble yet). I felt like an idiot not being able to connect the obvious dots.
“There’s also a backstage interview that was shot with Rock that night that was never published, but there’s clear evidence of it on the interviewer’s IG. Hint: NOT Jackie.”
Elsewhere in backstage news featuring The Rock returning to the ring in WWE in 2024, fans will finally be able to see more details about what happened heading into WrestleMania 40.
On Wednesday, July 3, WWE is poised to drop the long awaited documentary about the backstage build to Mania, including the creative pivot from The Rock facing Roman Reigns to a tag team match with Rock and Reigns facing Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on night one, followed by Reigns vs Rhodes on night two.
