WWE Interest In New AEW Signing Revealed AEW

WWE reportedly had interest in a new AEW signing after seeing one of his matches that took place in All Elite Wrestling itself.

Former two-time AEW World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood has revealed when AEW offered a deal to the latest signing.

On August 10, Fightful Select reported that “The Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington was believed to have been signed by All Elite Wrestling.

Billington made his first appearance for the company in a match with Dax Harwood on the May 11 episode of AEW Collision.

On his Instagram stories, Harwood of FTR confirmed the story that Billington was offered a contract and chose AEW after interest from WWE. He said:

“I hope he doesn’t mind me saying this, but he told me about some of his financial woes.

“He moved himself all the way to Canada to better his opportunities for wrestling. He told me about his financial woes.

“I told him that night, ‘After tonight, we’re going to get you a job.’ We had the match. Obviously, he showed out. He was offered a contract on the spot, right there.

“He didn’t accept just yet, but he was offered a contract on the spot. The very next day WWE also reached out to someone close to Tommy and asked about getting him there.

“There was, I don’t want to say a bidding war, but there was a bit of power plays. Tom decided he wanted to come to AEW. I think you’ll see more of Tom Billington in AEW to come.”

Billington made his most recent appearance in a bout against Konosuke Takeshita on the July 10 episode of AEW Collision.
