On May 25, George Floyd was murdered by police in Minneapolis. The murder has sparked passionate protests from people all over the world and many companies have taken the chance to issue statements on the situation. Now, WWE has joined them.
WWE released their statement earlier today on Twitter. Here is the full quote:
— WWE (@WWE) June 2, 2020
“WWE supports an inclusive society and condemns racial injustice. We stand beside our Black performers, employees and fans around the world, and encourage everyone to use their voice to speak out against racism. We offer our sincere condolences to the family of George Floyd and the families of others who have lost their lives due to senseless violence.”
While quotes and statements are nice, true support during times like these comes through action. This is why it is important to do your best to educate others, spread useful information, and donate to the appropriate causes. You can find links where you can donate here.
Many people in WWE have spoken up about the current situation as well. Most notably, people like MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston have shared their messages about their experiences dealing with racism in their lives.
It goes without saying that racism is evil and needs to be fought against.
