WWE Star Addresses Potentially Bringing Back Old Ring Names WWE

The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) returned to WWE in October 2024 and have gone on to become World Tag Team Champions.

The December 16 episode of WWE Raw saw The War Raiders beat Judgment Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh) to become two-time WWE World Tag Team Champions.

Erik & Ivar’s first reign was during their Viking Raiders days in October 2019 having been called up to the main roster in that year.

It wouldn’t be their first name on the main roster, initially being the much-derided The Viking Experience.

Their main roster call-up took place just over a year after they signed with WWE, debuting in NXT as War Raiders with their Rowe and Hanson names.

The pair had competed on the independent scene as War Machine before signing with WWE and eventually going on to switch from Rowe to Erik and Hanson to Ivar.

Speaking about the possibility of bringing back the Rowe and Hanson names on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Ivar said:

“At this point, we’ve spent five years in the main roster and Erik and Ivar, especially with the Ivar singles run, that’s how we’re known.

“I think it would’ve felt like erasing everything we’ve done. I don’t think we want to erase everything that we’ve done on the main roster.

“We’ve done some great things, including singles runs, our Raw Tag Title run that we had, all the stuff that we did with The Street Profits. Whether people liked it or not, it’s our history.

“I loved every second of it, and I don’t think we want to erase that.”

Ivar would also reveal how close he came to having to end his wrestling career following a recent injury.

War Machine are former two-time IWGP Tag Team Champions and have also held the ROH World Tag Team Championship.
