A WWE star has discussed Asuka’s betrayal of IYO SKY, questioning if IYO SKY will end up ‘replacing’ Asuka’s legacy.
Asuka has been butting heads with Rhea Ripley since her return to WWE television back in May, questioning Rhea’s friendship with IYO SKY.
Recently, Asuka finally snapped, betraying IYO and Rhea, and forcing Kairi Sane to help her in taking both women out ahead of their tag team encounter at WWE Crown Jewel on Saturday.
Speaking about Asuka’s betrayal of IYO on the RAW Recap, Big E brought the real reason for Asuka’s betrayal into question, asking if Asuka is concerned that she may end up having her legacy ‘replaced’ by IYO SKY in the company.
He said:
“I can also see Asuka’s mentality of, she’s done so many incredible things, does she maybe fear that IYO, her legacy in WWE will surpass what Asuka has done? I think in many ways, as someone who opened the door, who has been the pioneer, you want people to always remember your name as the forbearer, as the foremost important woman in WWE to come from Japan, and maybe she fears that the plaque that has her name on the wall is going to be removed, and is going to be replaced with IYO. Then, in 5-10 years, are we talking about the importance of Asuka? Maybe we’re just talking about IYO.
“I think a lot of it is also this legacy, while Asuka was out with injury and working on rehabbing, here’s IYO continuing to climb and climb and build, and have world title opportunities, so I get it.”
