Former WWE Champion AJ Styles shared a big update on his wrestling future, hinting that he might have just wrestled in Japan for the last time.
The Phenomenal One was a huge star in Japan ahead of joining WWE, with Styles wrestling as part of the Bullet Club and winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship during his time with NJPW.
Styles recently got to revisit the land of the rising sun, both in a crossover match with Pro Wrestling NOAH, and for WWE’s live event tour last month.
During a new WWE YouTube video titled ‘Superstars celebrate WWE’s return to Japan’, Styles indicated that he might not wrestle in Japan ever again following this tour.
Explaining why he wore a mask during his WWE entrances in Japan, he said:
“If you don’t know already, when I’m in Japan, ever since I was with the Bullet Club, I had a mask made for the big shows of the year, and now it’s tradition that I have a mask when I walk out (in Japan).
“This possibly could be the last one you see on AJ Styles, so let’s get it.”
Styles wrestled three times at WWE house shows in Japan in July, most recently facing off against Shinsuke Nakamura and Cody Rhodes for Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship.
Prior to these house shows, Styles defeated Naomichi Marufuji in a huge crossover match at the July 13 NOAH Destination event.
