A WWE star has returned to in-ring action from injury “surprisingly early” according to a new report into the situation.
On the February 7 episode of WWE NXT, the returning Ilja Dragunov attacked JD McDonagh resulting in what was described as a “detached retina” by the injured star himself.
McDonagh had stated that his recovery time would be ten to fourteen days and washed Dragunov to count the days.
Dave Meltzer has now addressed McDonagh’s return on Wrestling Observer Radio and stated that his return after a month was:
“Surprisingly soon for a detached retina.”
Previously WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T had named JD McDonagh as one of the current crop of NXT talents that he is “really, really high on“.
He specifically referenced the NXT Championship Triple Threat match that took place at Halloween Havoc on October 22 2022.
The match saw JD McDonagh face Ilja Dragunov and Bron Breakker, with Breakker ultimately taking the win and retaining his title.
