WWE Sets Up Joe Hendry Championship Match

WWE Sets Up Joe Hendry Championship Match WWE

In his latest WWE appearance on tonight’s August 13 NXT, Joe Hendry has seemingly set up an upcoming championship match on tonight’s NXT.

To open tonight’s show, Wes Lee gave a succinct backstage interview where he detailed why he had turned on his Rascalz teammates Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel to end last week’s show.

Lee explained by simply saying:

“It’s just time for me to start taking what’s mine.”

However, the interview was interrupted by NXT Champion Ethan Page – who replaced the NXT microphone flag with his own custom All Ego version – ‘welcoming’ fans to the show as he walked to the ring for a promo.

He would not have an extended period of time to bloviate though, because he was interrupted by Joe Hendry.

With Hendry reminding fans that he recently announced that no-one even would need to say his name for him to appear, he and Page exchanged words.

After Hendry challenged Page for the NXT Championship and began to led the crowd in singing his theme song, Page would leave the ring, but it wouldn’t be long before Hendry was joined by someone else.

While Hendry was getting to the chorus of the song, he was kicked in the face by Wes Lee who appeared from behind, as Ethan Page cackled while watching Hendry get laid out.

Lee later set up a match for No Mercy against Zachary Wentz, so it seems Hendry vs Page will be a singles match for the NXT Championship,

Elsewhere on tonight’s NXT, a ‘gauntlet eliminator’ match was announced in the women’s division to determine who will go on to face Roxanne Perez at No Mercy.

The gauntlet will take place next week, with No Mercy set for Sunday, September 1.
