John Cena has praised the “most important piece of the puzzle” that he feels has led to his recent movie becoming a box office success.
Cena starts as Jakob Toretto in the latest entry in the Fast & Franchise franchise, Fast X, having made his debut in 2021’s F9.
The movie had its big screen release in the United States and Canada on May 19 2023.
Following its opening weekend, it was revealed that the movie had grossed $67.5 million in the United States and Canada, adding to the $251.4 million it had already grossed in other territories according to Box Office Mojo.
The weekend box office sets the latest entry already above the lifetime gross of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Draft released in 2006.
John Cena has commented on the movie’s performance after WWE tweeted a “congratulations, John Cena” message.
With the movie being the number one movie worldwide according to WWE’s post, Cena replied:
“My time in #WWE has made it clear that the fans are by far the most important piece of the puzzle.
“I want to thank the members of the @WWE Universe whose support of #FastX helped propel it to #1 in the world!”
Fast X is the eleventh instalment in the growing Fast & Furious, with 2019’s Hobbs & Shaw being the first spin-off from the core movies.
Hobbs & Shaw starred Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham and marked the last time Johnson would star in a Fast & Furious movie having made his debut in the franchise in 2011’s Fast Five.
The trailer for Fast X can be seen below this news story.
During his publicity tour for the movie, Cena has spoken about issues that he had with Dwayne Johnson during their time in WWE together.
Cena will shortly be seen in the upcoming Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling and has recently spoken about landing a role in the Greta Gerwig project.
He has also spoken about his criticism towards the current WWE United States Champion Austin Theory.
