Despite 2025 being built around John Cena’s retirement tour, a former WWE star doesn’t think the 17-time world champion will hang up his boots in December.
The “Greatest of All Time” will see his retirement tour come to an end at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, with John Cena set to face the winner of the Last Time Is Now Tournament.
CJ Perry, formerly known as Lana in WWE, recently spoke about Cena’s retirement whilst appearing on TMZ Inside the Ring, with the former WWE saying that she doesn’t believe that he, and other top names, will actually ever retire.
Asked whether she believes Cena is ‘truly done’ after December, Perry said:
“(Laughing) I mean, please, the biggest worker of them all is John Cena.
“I will never believe that John Cena, or The Undertaker, is retiring, or Triple H. I just think it’s a gimmick.
“They’re all retiring because it’s the gimmick. We’re all going to buy the merchandise, we’re all going to buy the towel.
“We’re all gonna be… and god forbid, of course I’m going to go buy the towel, and the cup and everything because god forbid this is his last time, and I don’t wanna be like ‘he’s coming back’, and it never happens.
“But I hope he’s not done because it would be really sad.”

As for Perry, she would address her own ‘retirement’ during the interview, teasing the possibility of reuniting with Rusev and making an in-ring return.
With only two matches left in John Cena’s WWE career, he will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series WarGames on November 29.
