Unseen footage featuring a young John Cena facing a star who was years away from his first WWE Hall of Fame induction has now emerged.
With John Cena’s in-ring career having come to an end at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, the wrestling world has reacted to the retirement of the record-breaking star.
Now, the previous record holder for WWE World Championships, Ric Flair has shared hitherto unseen footage of the pair of them in the ring.
The footage was shared by Flair on Twitter, showing the only time he and Cena faced each other in the ring, along with the caption:
“This Footage Brings Back So Many Memories! This Is The Only Time I Had The Opportunity To Wrestle @JohnCena!
“A Young GOAT In The Making! WOOOOO!”
While Flair and Cena teamed up a number of times on WWE television, the footage came from a development territory match in April 2002.
That match took place at OVW Spring Breakout and saw a young Cena as Prototype team with Sean O’Haire to take on Ric & David Flair.
Flair would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008 and as a member of the Four Horsemen in 2012.
