John Cena has reacted to Roman Reigns hitting 1000 days as WWE Universal Champion and revealed the origin of a recent photo.
Since capturing the Universal Title at Payback 2020, Reigns has been an immovable presence at the head of the WWE table.
With his last title defense being against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39, Reigns recently competed at WWE Night of Champions in a failed attempt to seize the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships from Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn.
On Twitter, Reigns posted a photo of himself holding a sheet of paper bearing the number 1000 which has already been the subject of a fair amount of memes.

John Cena has since posted on Instagram, showing the inspiration for the image.
The image shared by Cena shows Reigns with his 1000 and Wilt Chamberlain holding a piece of paper with 100 written on it.
In March 1962, Wilt Chamberlain “set the NBA single-game scoring record by tallying 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors in a 169-147 victory over the New York Knicks.”
According to the official NBA website, “Chamberlain was a gargantuan force in the NBA, a player of Bunyanesque stature who seemed to overshadow all around him. He was a dominant offensive force, unstoppable on his way to the basket, yet he was also a fine all-around athlete who took pride in developing the all-around skills to compete with players a half-foot shorter.”
The 100th point would occur when Chamberlain took a pass from fellow Warriors player Joe Ruklick with only forty-six seconds of the game left.
As the NBA feature points out, “fans raced onto the court and play was halted as Chamberlain went to the lockerroom, where PR man Harvey Pollack scrawled “100” on a piece of paper and had Chamberlain hold it up for photographers.”
Cena has previously described Roman Reigns as the greatest of all time in a recent interview.
While the WWE Night of Champions main event may have seen a wider schism forming in The Bloodline, with Paul Heyman recently commenting on the actions of Jimmy Uso, Reigns remains the top dog in the company.
