Ex-WWE Star Reveals ‘No-Win’ Vince McMahon Situation WWE

Vince McMahon knew that selling a WWE wrestler as a superstar went far beyond in-ring ability or prowess on the microphone.

For McMahon, it was all about the look.

The right look made money, and it’s a formula for success that he’d repeated over the decades.

One wrestler who clearly had that look was John Morrison.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, however, the former Johnny Nitro explained a no-win situation that he found himself in when it came to McMahon, saying:

“Vince was always real big on tans and there was a while where I was wrestling Sheamus and I’d come back and he’d be ‘God damn it, you look fantastic’.

“I looked exactly the same and I wrestled [R-]Truth the next week and he was ‘Morrison, come here, you look like sh*t. Get a tan, god damn it. You can’t sell pale.'”

In the interview, Morrison would also discuss how he got away with the Johnny Nitro name for so long, despite Vince McMahon disliking it.

John Morrison started as Johnny Blaze on WWE Raw in 2004 before changing to Johnny Spade and finally settling with Johnny Nitro and ending his time in the company as John Morrison.

Morrison would remain with WWE until 2011 before leaving the company to pursue a tour of the independent scene.

He would appear in Lucha Underground and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide among other companies before signing with Impact Wrestling in 2017.

He would leave Impact and return to WWE for a stint from 2017 to 2021 before returning to the independent circuit and landing in MLW.
