WWE Star Opens Upon About Support From John Cena WWE

A top WWE NXT star has revealed the praise that they received from John Cena following a photo posted on Instagram.

Johnny Gargano is set to face Grayson Waller in an unsanctioned match at NXT Stand & Deliver on April 1.

This will mark Gargano’s first match on the brand since December 2021, having cut a farewell promo leading to an attack from Grayson Waller.

Returning to the brand at NXT Roadblock in March 2023, Gargano would enter back into a feud with Waller.

Following his initial farewell, Gargano would recall John Cena posting a photo on Instagram whilst on the Catch Club podcast, saying:

“My (NXT) WarGames match that I spoke on earlier, he (John Cena) posted a picture of me on his Instagram after the WarGames match of just me.

“I know John posts random pictures on his Instagram, but it was just me. So I had his number, I sent him a text. I said, ‘Hey man, thank you for that.’

“He sent me a long text message about thanking me for my time in NXT, everything I contributed to it and that I’ve (given) to the industry, stuff in the future.

“He’s the man. I cannot say enough great things about John Cena. Like I said, he’s the prototype of what a WWE superstar should be in and out of the ring.”

Cena is set to face a former associate of Gargano’s in the form of Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39 for the United States Championship.

The opponents have been in a war of words recently, with Cena warning that no matter the match outcome Theory will lose.

Austin Theory was a member of The Way with Gargano, Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell before his move to the main WWE roster.

Footage from Theory winning the 2020 Future Star of the Year award in NXT can be seen below this news story.
