WWE Star To Wrestle Last NXT Match At Stand & Deliver

It looks like today’s NXT Stand & Deliver show is likely to be a certain someone’s last match with the NXT brand.

One of the marquee matches on the show is an unsanctioned match between Grayson Waller and Johnny Gargano that calls all the way back to December 7, 2021.

That was Gargano’s last NXT appearance before his previous WWE contract expired.

That episode ending with Waller cutting short what was supposed to be Gargano’s farewell speech by attacking Gargano and writing him off TV.

Gargano returned to WWE in August 2022, but as part of the main roster rather than NXT.

However, he did finally make a return to NXT in March to confront Waller and set up the match for tonight to tie that loose end.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Gargano has heavily implied that this match will be his last piece of business in NXT.

He said:

“To be able to come back there, it was a moment that was in the works for a long time. Obviously, when I came back to WWE, that was always in the back of my mind.

“The moment Grayson Waller took me out, if things were to work out and I was to come back to WWE, I knew that we would settle the score sometime, someplace, right place, right time.

“To come back to NXT and have that moment, hear that crowd, and have it be a complete surprise. Say what you want abut the Garganos, the Garganos can keep a secret. No-one knows when we’re showing up anywhere. To have that moment again really filled my heart with much joy.

“It’s an amazing thing and I’m very excited for Stand & Deliver to get one more TakeOver event under my belt and wrap my story up the right way.

“As it stands right now, for me, Stand & Deliver, that’s the end of Johnny Gargano’s story in NXT.”

WRKD Wrestling, who has developed a great track record, has reported there have been discussions in WWE of reuniting former NXT Tag Team Champions Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa on the main roster when Ciampa returns from injury.

Obviously the possibility of Gargano EVER making another return to NXT after tonight shouldn’t be ruled out, but it definitely sounds like Waller is the last chapter for now.
