A recently released WWE star has recalled their ‘ongoing struggles’ with creative ideas during their time with the company.
Katana Chance was one of a number of WWE stars to be released on May 2 in a list that included her tag team partner, Kayden Carter.
A former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, Chance has now spoken about the struggles she faced having signed with the company back in 2017.
Speaking on the Lightweights podcast, Chance opened up about creative obstacles, noting she didn’t really find herself as a result, stating:
“You’re kind of put in these spots and you’re needed to be a specific thing right away.
“I don’t know if I ever fully was able to really find myself in it.”
While WWE stars can put forward their own ideas for their character, Chance reflected that management had the final say, going on to say:
“That was an ongoing struggle of mine throughout my journey, which is—I don’t know that I actually ever got to do that and fully find if I was myself or whatever I wanted to be with no restrictions, what it would have been.”
Along with being a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, Chance also held the NXT Women’s Tag Team title with Kayden Carter.
The real-life Kacy Catanzaro signed with WWE after a tryout in January 2017, entering the Mae Young Classic in the following year.
