WWE Champion Says Signature Move Was Inspired By Kevin Owens WWE

A current champion has revealed that a previous signature move was inspired by fellow WWE star Kevin Owens.

While speaking with Macho T at the WWE 2K26 Creator Fest, Penta was asked to name his dream WWE opponents.

After naming GUNTHER, Roman Reigns and CM Punk, Penta revealed Kevin Owens as his fourth pick, noting that his Package Piledriver signature move he used as a finisher outside of WWE was inspired by Kevin Owens’ version of the move.

Penta said:

“The first pick I want is GUNTHER. We’re going strong, because we are the best. Second, we are picking Roman Reigns. Strong picks, right?

“Number three, I want CM Punk himself. I want Kevin Owens. I only told Kevin Owens this, the package piledriver I started doing was inspired by him.

“I once told him when I first came to WWE. I told him ‘The package, I did it for you’, because I’ve been watching him for a long time.”

Package Piledriver usage in WWE

While it is rare to see a Package Piledriver in WWE, Kevin Owens has used the move several times in recent years, notably during his feuds with Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

He also used a regular piledriver in his feud with Randy Orton to write him off TV in November 2024.

While Penta has moved away from using the Package Piledriver as his main finisher in WWE, he still uses the Mexican Destroyer flip piledriver, which he used to defeat Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship on the March 2 Raw episode.

While Kevin Owens ultimately did get there first, the former Universal Champion notably said in April 2025 that he would’ve “lost his s**t” if WWE allowed Penta to use the Package Piledriver in WWE before him, given how many times he had asked to use it.

With Owens currently out of action recovering from serious neck issues, we could see Penta once again bring back the move as a one-off to pay homage to the injured star… Given that he did get to use it in WWE first.
