A clip has resurfaced of Kevin Owens’ burying a “f**king awful” gimmick that he claimed Jim Cornette pitched to him in Ring of Honor.
In the clip, Kevin Owens reveals that he wasn’t able to be “Mr Wrestling” in ROH because, as Cornette says, “he doesn’t wrestle”.
Turning down the idea of The Antichrist of Ring of Honor as a suggestion because it’s “not TV product”, Cornette fires back with the suggestion “Mr Evil.”
Recounting the story on the Kevin Steen Show, Owens’ response to the name is somewhat dramatic.
The clip resurfaced when a fan on Twitter tweeted:
“I like @FightOwensFight and I like @TheJimCornette but until Jim confirms this story himself I have to call BS that does not sound like something he would pitch that sounds like something he would call lazy booking.”
Cornette didn’t miss the opportunity to set the record straight with his reply, clarifying:
“Only BS is ALMOST everything. Couldn’t call himself the AntiChrist on Sinclair TV, not my call. I asked Delirious what Steen wanted to call his GROUP of stooges–he had no idea.
“I said “What about EVIL” cause he had that TATTOED ON HIS ARM. I’d have called them Drizzling S**ts.”
Kevin Owens was a fixture on ROH roster from 2007 to 2014, with Cornette serving as booker between 2009 and 2012.
Cornette has gone on record previously considering Steen to be a challenge to work with, with the now-Kevin Owens believing that Cornette “froze” him out of ROH.
Owens would leave ROH in 2014 and sign with WWE in August of that year.
He is currently one half of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions along with Sami Zayn and is drafted to Raw.
