WWE Knew Jon Moxley Had Signed With AEW Before Double Or Nothing

The wrestling world was shocked on Saturday night when Jon Moxley, formerly Dean Ambrose in WWE, appeared at AEW’s Double or Nothing show. It was later reported that legendary commentator Jim Ross didn’t even know Moxley was scheduled to appear, despite calling the show.

However, it is now being reported by Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE were not shocked by Moxley’s appearance as they learned that the former WWE Champion had signed with AEW two days before the event. However, he does note that the news didn’t come from Moxley, as he told them he was taking time away from the ring:

“From what I understand they found out he was going to AEW on that Thursday. I think that he snowed them with the idea that I’m just burned out I just need time off and because of that it was because of that they were like ‘if he just needs time off and he’s gonna work CZW or places like that you know what I mean?”

This comes after Jon Moxley spoke on Chris Jericho’s podcast about his unhappiness whilst working for WWE and explained that he feels Vince McMahon is killing the company. This is something reportedly many current WWE stars actually agree with.
