Despite being recognised as a hugely popular gem on the WWE roster, the company has drawn negativity for piping-in LA Knight’s reaction.
The issue occurred on the pre-taped episode of WWE SmackDown that aired on Friday, May 26 before Saturday’s Night of Champions premium live event.
The popularity of LA Knight among the fans in attendance when SmackDown was recorded on May 19 can be heard in a video shared by TaBoy 225.

Others on Twitter would criticize WWE’s production choice, with the likes of BeckyBlackheart noting:
“LA Knight getting booed bffr! This piped in crowd noise is so ridiculous #SmackDown”
In response to two short videos comparing LA Knight’s reaction from SmackDown with the reaction seven months ago, Superwind would note:
“They really piped in crowd boos during his entrance too, disgusting.
“WWE struck gold with LA Knight, you best damn take advantage.”
It wasn’t just the piped-in noise but the horrendous use of them that drew criticism from some fans:
“I don’t complain much about piped in noise but man this was horrendous. LA Knight got HUGE cheers and WWE drowned them out with fake boos.
“The fans connect with him. Stop pushing them away. #Smackdown”
A small number of Tweets would note that the plan was probably to keep LA Knight as a heel for the time being.
It was recently reported that the fan reaction to LA Knight had not gone unnoticed by WWE higher-ups with the star being considered as a potential Money in the Bank winner.
LA Knight was one of a number of unannounced WWE stars who were in Saudi Arabia for WWE Night of Champions.
