A WWE legend has been announced for a championship match at the upcoming Evolution premium live event on July 13.
On tonight’s July 4 episode of SmackDown (taped June 30), WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton was able to choose her challenger for Evolution.
First, Stratton was interrupted by Jade Cargill, who has a title match banked for SummerSlam after winning the Queen of the Ring tournament.
After some back-and-forth between Cargill and Stratton, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus made her way out to join them in the ring.
The last time we saw Stratus she was teaming with Stratton at Elimination Chamber in a win against Nia Jax and Candice LeRae.
Stratton told Stratus that she specifically requested for the Hall of Famer to be her opponent at Evolution.
In theory, that means Cargill is set to challenge either Stratton or Stratus for the WWE Women’s Championship at Evolution.
However, there is also Money in the Bank holder Naomi to consider, who is still in a heated feud with Cargill and could cash-in to win the title any time before SummerSlam. Naomi vs Cargill in a No Holds Barred match is also set for Evolution.
