A WWE legend has shown support and says he “feels for” Drew McIntyre after he lost his championship just weeks before WrestleMania 42.
Last week’s episode of SmackDown saw McIntyre lose the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes, just a month before WrestleMania takes place on April 18 and 19.
The result of that match means it will now be Rhodes defending the championship against Elimination Chamber winner Randy Orton at WrestleMania, with McIntyre out of the title picture.
On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T spoke about McIntyre’s situation and his position in WWE.
Booker said:
“Drew McIntyre was always in my fav five. Always. I think he had a residency in my fav five. I definitely feel for him right now.
“Just because I feel like no matter what role you give Drew McIntyre, he’s gonna take it and he’s gonna knock it out of the park, and I thought he was a hell of a champion.
“It’s gotta be tough. I wouldn’t wanna be in that position. No-one does. But that’s the business, that’s just part of the business. Play the cards that you’re dealt.
“I’m sure the time is gonna come back around for Drew McIntyre. If not, I’m not gonna worry about Drew McIntyre or anything like that, because he can do whatever he wants in this business.
“I’m sure it’s disappointing to him to have to drop that strap so close to WrestleMania, because that’s every wrestler’s ultimate dream, I would imagine – walking out (at) WrestleMania as champion, or walking into WrestleMania the challenger, and you win the championship.
“I’m sure he’s feeling it.”

New WrestleMania Plans For Drew McIntyre
The current belief is that Drew McIntyre – who had won the title from Cody Rhodes in January – will end up in a separate match against Jacob Fatu.
There had been rumors that McIntyre and potentially Jacob Fatu could be added to Rhodes vs Randy Orton to make it a multi-man match, but as of now WWE is officially advertising Rhodes vs Orton as a singles bout.
McIntyre winning the WWE Championship from Rhodes in January had been a shift in plans from Rhodes vs Roman Reigns that was originally intended to lead to a Rhodes vs McIntyre rematch at WrestleMania.
However, WWE changed its plans again, and is going in the direction of Rhodes vs Orton instead, with McIntyre vs Fatu taking place separately.
