WWE Legend John Cena Reveals Secret About Debut Rap Album WWE/Apple Music

WWE legend John Cena has revealed a secret about his debut rap album ‘You Can’t See Me’ that was first released in 2005.

Cena and his cousin Tha Trademarc collaborated on the album which, to this day, has seen no follow up.

In an interview with Tom Rinaldi (via Billboard) ahead of his WWE retirement, John Cena has remained assertive that there will be no follow up as rapping is a “young man’s game” and he doesn’t plan to release more rap music.

In the interview, as well as denying that there’ll be any furthering of his rap career, Cena commented on how the album came about in the first place, and admitted that there are around 70 songs that got cut.

He said:

“It is a young man’s game and I’m not in it anymore. The rapping thing was an accident.

“I listened to the music they played for me and I’m like, ‘I can do better than this… wait, I could do better than this.’

“And this wasn’t now where we have the technology of you can mix on your iPhone.

“I had to go to a studio, so then I’m like, ‘I think my cousin knows a guy… might be able to know a guy.’ And then we recorded Basic Thuganomics for like $10,000.

“I handed it to WWE, like, ‘Can you just play this?’ And they’re like, ‘This is you. Yeah sure, no problem.’ And then I was like – accident – the people dig it. ‘We’ve gotta have a follow up.’

“To my cousin, ‘You wanna start making music?’ ‘Yeah, cool.’ ‘Alright, what’s it gonna take?’ ‘I don’t know, we’ll figure it out.’

“Fail, fail, fail. There’s like 70 lost tracks of the album that never made it out. I was able to shave off the ones that shouldn’t make and give you the ones that should, and I’m lucky to get that.”
