Fresh off the heels of the success of the latest Marvel blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, WWE legend Dave Bautista (Batista) looks set for yet another starring role in a newly announced Lionsgate picture titled The Killers Game.
According to Deadline, not only will Bautista star in the leading role of the film but he will also executive produce under his own film production company Dogbone Entertainment, which Bautista formed in 2022.
Bautista will play the role of Joe Flood in the upcoming action movie, which is based upon an original novel of the same name from Jay Bonansinga. It will be directed by JJ Perry.
The synopsis of the movie is as follows (courtesy of IMDB):
“A world-weary assassin who’s taken a hit out on himself finds a new reason to live after his girlfriend discovers she’s pregnant. Together, they race across Europe, trying to outrun his would-be killers.”
One of the project’s producers Andrew Lazar, of Mad Chance Entertainment would comment on the film’s announcement as well as Bautista’s involvement to Deadline, saying:
“We have searched far and wide and finally found the perfect Joe Flood in Dave Bautista, who balances compelling action and incredible comic timing better than anyone else, and with JJ Perry at the helm, we know this film will deliver the kind of wholly original and unique action that global audiences crave.”
While Bautista has not been directly involved in pro wrestling since his final match at WrestleMania 35 against Triple H, he recently commented on a particular SmackDown spot, suggesting that he still keeps an eye on WWE’s content.
