‘There’s No Bitterness’: Retired Star Open To Working With WWE WWE

Former WWF Intercontinental Champion Marc Mero has revealed that he’d be open to a WWE Legends contract offer.

Mero competed in WWE from 1996 to 1999 having previously been in WCW as Johnny B. Badd and a three-time World Television Champion.

His departure would see him return to WCW, briefly being seen on screen, before he’d sign with NWA TNA in 2004, retiring in 2006.

During a recent appearance on Cultaholic’s Desert Island Graps, Mero opened up about the possibility of signing a WWE Legends contract.

Speaking to Tom Campbell, Mero revealed his feelings towards WWE having left the company in 1999 mid-way through his contract, saying:

“There’s no bitterness from me. It would be an honour to work with them and have a Legends contract.”

Currently a motivational speaker, Mero would also reflect on an inspirational program that WWE has delivered, stating:

“They have a Be a Star program where they have some of the wrestlers talk at schools, that’s what I do, I’m doing 200+ events a year. How cool would it be to have WWE behind it?

“I’m in such a great place in my life that thank goodness I never needed it but you certainly would like to walk away saying that there were no problems or anything like that.

“There are no problems on my end but I understand that there may be some hard feelings on their end still.”

The Be a STAR program ran from 2011 and was an anti-bullying strategy built around the theme of ‘Show Tolerance and Respect’.

It provided resources to associated members for use in the classroom and communities and saw WWE stars make visits to young people.

Recently, it was reported that Fred Ottman and the late John Tenta Jr. were under WWE Legends contracts and would be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Ottman and Tenta were better known to WWE fans as the Natural Disasters, Typhoon and Earthquake, with the pair being WWF Tag Team Champions.
