WWE Live In Shanghai, China!

WWE Live In Shanghai, China!

WWE finally arrived in Shanghai, China, with the Raw brand last night for a live event after several weeks of hype. This included spotlighting John Cena’s recent residency in the country, training under Jackie Chan for an upcoming movie, as well as sending Seth Rollins on a tour of the city to promote the event.

This is only the second time WWE have visited the city and this time they made their home at the Shanghai Mercedes Benz Arena. According to reports, the event lasted just over three and a half hours and was eighty five percent full.

This is the end of a week of intense scheduling for the red brand which has seen them go from Canada, to the United Kingdom, to Japan, and finally China. They will now return to the United States of America for Raw in Ohio on Monday.

The card was very similar to that of WWE’s show at the O2 Arena in London, England, on Wednesday evening. The main event saw Roman Reigns defend his WWE Universal Championship against Braun Strowman, a war which will happen inside Hell in a Cell on September 16. The result was identical to that of their clash on British shores.

Roman retained via disqualification when Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre, who has been mooted as Reigns’ next challenger after Braun, interfered and set upon the champion. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose made the save, putting the Scotsman through a table.

In results from the rest of the show:

  • Bobby Roode defeated Bray Wyatt. Bray worked as a heel for the bout, possibly foreshadowing his character change which will be presented to us shortly.
  • The B-Team pinned Titus Worldwide and the Revival to retain the Raw Tag Team Championships.
  • Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose overcame Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler.
  • John Cena, Finn Bálor, and Bobby Lashley trashed Baron Corbin, Elias, and Jinder Mahal. During this collision Cena unveiled his sixth move of doom.
  • Cedric Alexander trumped Drew Gulak to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
  • Ronda Rousey, Natalya, and the Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection whitewashed Alexa Bliss and the Riott Squad.
