WWE Live Results July 30, 2018 – Fort Myers, Florida

WWE‘s SmackDown Live roster found themselves ‘down the shore’ Saturday in New Jersey, followed by a live event Monday in Fort Myers, Florida. The event was one of many shows on the WWE SummerSlam Heatwave Tour.

The two events had similar matches, but focusing on Fort Myers… the main event of the show was a predictable title defense by AJ Styles, defending the WWE Championship against challenger Samoa Joe. The two will be facing each other at SummerSlam, so the hype and energy surrounding their matches is high; however, giving them too many matches together constantly between live events and television before the pay-per-view could take away from the excitement.

As for the other matches, many titles were defended and feuds continued. The show opened up with a US Title defense by Shinsuke Nakamura, defeating Jeff Hardy to retain his title and continue their feud, presumably up until SummerSlam, and thereafter.

In results from the rest of the show:

  • Sin Cara defeated Tye Dillinger in a singles match
  • Asuka and Becky Lynch downed Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose in a tag team match
  • The Bludgeon Brothers outfought The Usos and Gallows & Anderson to retain the SmackDown Tag Team Championships
  • Rusev and Lana outlasted Zelina Vega and Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas
  • R-Truth – in one of his first matches after returning to the ring – defeated Shelton Benjamin
  • The Bar overstepped The New Day
  • Carmella retained the SmackDown Women’s Championship after defeating Naomi
