A WWE star has set a world record through the sale of a trading card for over $16 million at a recent auction.
An avid collector, Logan Paul recently put the Pikachu Illustrator trading card, which had been graded by the PSA as a 10, at auction.
The extremely rare trading card was sold at auction by Goldin for $16,492,000, with Guinness World Records verifying this as setting two new records.
First up, the representative confirmed the sale had set the record for the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold at auction.
The second record saw the sale claim the title of the most expensive trading card ever sold at auction.
As you can see in the clip below, it would be confirmed that the sale set the new Guinness World Record for ‘Most Expensive Trading Card In The World’.
Paul would be described as ‘officially amazing’ by the representative as she handed him a certificate confirming his new record-setting endeavor.
The Illustrator trading card is one of only twenty to have been graded by the PSA, with Paul coming into possession of the Grade 10 card by swapping his Grade 9 card and $4 million in cash to acquire it back in July 2021.
To date, the only Grade 10 Pikachu Illustrator is the one that was sold at auction for the record-setting price after ninety-seven bids.
The Pikachu Illustrator has been seen on WWE television, having been worn by Paul at WrestleMania 38 when he teamed with The Miz in a victory over Rey & Dominik Mysterio in April 2022.
Congratulations to @LoganPaul and the team at @GoldinCo on a historic night 🥳 pic.twitter.com/0vpWfzYw9s
