Vince McMahon’s Backstage Reaction To Logan Paul WWE Match WWE

Since first appearing in WWE in 2021, Logan Paul has brought attention to the company with each appearance, including recently at SummerSlam.

With seven matches to his name, all at premium live events, Paul has recently been described as “better than… probably 70% of the full-time guys” by WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.

Someone else who saw the potential in the social media influencer was Vince McMahon.

In an appearance on The Stephen A Smith Show, Logan Paul opened up about a conversation he had with McMahon.

Looking back as his debut match at WrestleMania 38 where he teamed with The Miz to take on Rey & Dominik Mysterio, Paul said:

“Man, it’s crazy. I didn’t see it coming. I was invited to do a wrestling match, a tag team match against the Mysterios for WrestleMania because I had kind of a working relationship with the WWE and I think halfway through this match, I hit a move that was kind of a spit in the face to the Mysterios. It was a reference to Eddie Guerrero.

“I was on top of the rope, about to jump off to do first ever frog splash in the WWE which is now kind of my move and I hit this little Eddie Guerrero shimmy and the crowd goes crazy but they’re all boos.”

Paul would then go on to reveal his interaction with Vince McMahon after the match, saying:

“Everyone backstage lights up because you know in the WWE Universe, boos are fantastic, boos are great, cheers are great, silence is bad.

“I lit this crowd up and I get backstage and I go to Vince McMahon and he says something to me like, ‘Oh your future is here,’ and I think we all kind of realize at the same time, ‘I could do this.’ I like it and I’m good at it.”

Seth Rollins faced Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39 and previously reflected on that match.

Logan Paul defeated Ricochet at SummerSlam on August 5, 2023, in Detroit, Michigan.

It was recently reported that the pair set “high expectations” for themselves going into the match, with a training session at the WWE Performance Center on August 1 included in their preparation.

Highlights from the match can be seen below this news story.
